Which resist or Gutta would you suggest for thick silk so I only apply on one side of the silk?

Which resist or Gutta would you suggest for thick silk?

Great question Nirja!

I don’t normally paint on thick silk satin, because it is very “thirsty” and needs a LOT of dye.  🙂

It’s also difficult to outline designs using Gutta or outliners on thick silk.

Unfortunately I don’t know of any Gutta or outliner which requires only one application on one side of the thick silk.

The best Gutta I know of is Resistad (made by Jacquard) – you can find it here:
you could also contact the manufacturer and ask about using it on the silk you have:

If you’d like to buy some, Amazon has it online:

Perhaps you could also ask on some of the online silk painting Groups where you might find other silk artists who can provide an answer for you.

Best of luck with your silk painting adventures!

Let me know how you get on 🙂

Cheerio for now,
Teena!

I haven’t used very thick silk, but I have created my own outliner and applied it silk in a thick line which easily penetrated each type of silk I used. Here is a photo to show the progress for a design:
