Do you make time to play and doodle on silk for fun?
If not, you really should, it frees up the brain for a while and allows us to run free and wild in our imagination 😀
A while back I created a couple of videos about doodling on silk without an idea, or a pattern, or an end goal in mind.
Some people saw this as a dreadful video – wanted to let me know – and that’s OK — everyone is allowed to have an opinion
For me, it was showing artists that it’s definitely OK to :
- PLAY with silk painting
- DON’T take it too seriously ALL THE TIME
- ENJOY the lack of pattern
- LOVE the freedom of swiping silk dye onto tightly stretched white silk
- EXPLORE the concept of OUTLINING parts of hand-painted silk with MARKER PENS
- BE THRILLED with the silliness and bold shapes and designs you’ve created 😀
- ALLOW the fun to help balance our mental health regularly 💜
Watch this video to see what I do 😀

When you make time to play and doodle on silk, amazing things start to happen …
Sometimes I think we focus so much on trying to make everything perfect and exact, that we might miss out on some incredible outcomes. If only we could let go of that desire to be in 100% control all the time.
By letting ourselves play every now and then, our hand-painted silk designs just might surprise us 🙂
It’s play time for silk artists 😀
I’d love to know when you let go of wanting to be in control all the time, and have a play with your hand painted silk designs, please do post a comment below or send me an email with photos of what you’ve come up with!
I look forward to hearing from you soon – and seeing photos of whatever you’re working on 💜
Ciao ciao for now,
Teena!
