Who makes H Dupont Classique Silk Dyes?
Towards the end of 2010, the H Dupont Classique silk dyes company was purchased by Clay-and-Paint.com in Belgium. I understand the original dyes had been around for about 60 years up to that point.
Looking for a colour chart for H Dupont?
The name “H Dupont Classique” remained the same, and the colour codes were changed.
I heard back from the delightful staff of Clay-and-Paint.com in regard to a colour chart, here is a link to their page:
Who should use the H Dupont silk dyes?
Silk artists, textile designers, anyone who paints on silk for surface design using dyes.
Perfect for both silk and wool, these dyes can be used undiluted for strong colours (or diluted for pastel colours), suitable for all silk painting techniques, as well as airbrushing and Batik (using hot wax).
When the dyes are combined with a thickener (Epaississant), they can also be used for screen printing.

How long do the H Dupont silk dyes last in my Studio?
Are you wondering about the shelf life of H Dupont silk dyes?
Excellent question!
I have contacted the manufacturer and their reply:
- “there is no limited shelf-life if the bottle is well closed and stored in a cool and dark place”
That’s fantastic news! It’s so great to hear this from the manufacturers.
- PS – I have some brands of French silk dyes in my Studio which I have had for 20 years.
