If you’re starting to learn about silk painting, you will be hearing or seeing the word “gutta” (which is pronounced “gootah”). It’s on of the traditional products used for thousands of years and was originally made by collecting the sap from specific trees, then turning it into a liquid form which could be squeezed through nibs attached to plastic squeeze bottles.

I’ve just watched this amazing video of the ancient techniques used in silk painting for many hundreds of years, and I thought you might enjoy it too!
The patience required for painting on silk in those centuries was extraordinary, and the artisans were so skilled with such detailed fine work – amazing!

Today I answer a question regarding painting on silk, mobility and health issues — our listener suffers fatigue (tiredness), less mobility for holding paintbrushes, and cannot sit or stand for long periods of time. I came up with a suggestion on how best to still be able to do silk painting for short chunks of time. Perhaps this might help you or someone you know.
