So, are you wondering who Teena Hughes is?
I’ve been painting on silk since I first experienced it in a silk artist’s Studio (Atelier) in Paris in the early 1980s. I’d always been able to draw reasonably well and had been making my own clothes for years, so when I first put the paintbrush of silk dye onto the pristine white silk stretched across a wooden frame, I fell in love.
Truly. Madly Deeply.
To this day, whenever I start painting on silk, I heave a HUGE sigh of satisfaction, it feels like I’ve come ‘home’. I also listen to French music when painting on silk, as it transports me back to those amazing first days when I was in Paris …
I have been continuing to learn about this ancient French technique taught by artisans, educating myself and practicing whenever I can. I’ve taught in person in Sydney, Melbourne, Port Douglas (all in Australia), Paris (France), Los Angeles, San Francisco and Santa Fe (USA).
Coming full circle, I now teach my 30 years of knowledge and experience of silk painting in Paris – where I first began my delicious silken journey. What an amazing journey that’s been!
I love to teach, and to share my knowledge, and now I want to help those folks who aren’t able to attend my Workshops in person. I’ve created my first Beginners’ Silk Painting Mastermind Course, and I’m thrilled to be able to share this with you!
